Kundapur, Jun 9: Dr Robert Rebello, the former medical officer of the government hospital in town, who was arrested by police in Mumbai on allegations of sexual harassment, was granted bail by the Byndoor court late Friday night.
A case was lodged at the Kundapur police station against Dr Robert Rebello, accusing him of sexual harassment, sending obscene messages via WhatsApp, and subjecting a female colleague to mental harassment.
Dr Robert had gone into hiding following the filing of the case and was subsequently traced to a resort in Mumbai. He was then brought before the Byndoor judge at the latter’s residence.
The defense lawyer for Dr Robert argued that his client had been served a notice for negligence on duty and suggested that the case was filed by his female colleague out of animosity arising from administrative issues. The court granted bail to the accused.
