Bengaluru, Jun 15: Union Heavy Industries and Steel Minister HG D Kumaraswamy, who arrived in Bengaluru after being sworn as minister in the Narendra Modi-led NDA government, slammed the Congress government for targeting the B S Yediyurappa family after its political vendetta against the H D Deve Gowda family.
The JDS leader, who called on the State Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot after his arrival in Bengaluru, attacked the Siddaramaiah government for pursuing the alleged molestation complaint against Yediyurappa and termed the action as ‘political vendetta’.
Addressing JDS workers at the patty office, he charged that the Congress government is conspiring the arrest the 82-year-old Lingayat leader and attempting to tarnish his image, which was bound to fail.
Police action in BSY case ‘suspicious’
Kumaraswamy said the Congress government is ‘jealous’ at his becoming Union Minister and also claimed that the government’s action in the POSCO case against Yediyurappa is ‘very suspicious’.
The JDS leader questioned the revival of the four-month-old complaint and also alleged that the Siddaramaiah government is ‘desperate to search for anything suspicious in my life’. “Let them do whatever they want, my goal and objective is only to work for the State and its development,” he said.
Kumaraswamy also questioned the police action to erect Shamiana in front of the police station in the murder case against Kannada film actor Darshan and said such a step is unheard of.
‘CD Shivu is behind political vendetta’
Pouring venom at the Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, without directly naming him, Kumaraswamy claimed that ‘some leaders are unable to sleep after I became Union Minister. They cannot even digest food’.
Kumaraswamy said some Congress leaders are bragging of winning eight out of the 28 Lok Sabha seats in the State. “They circulated pen drives in Hassan to bag the seats,” he said asked Shivakumar: “Why no action was taken on the audio after the pen drives containing explicit sex molestation visuals.”
Dubbing the Deputy Chief Minister as ‘CD Shivu’, the JDS leader reminded him: “I have now become Union Minister. But I don’t believe in political vendetta as it is not in my nature.”
The minister declared that he will never forget the interests of the State. “You can come to me on works pertaining to any ministry. I will try to help and do it. I need some time to settle down,” he said.
“In politics, nobody can be destroyed. In the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, how many seats did Chandrababu Naidu win? Yet, his legislators abandoned him and he was sent to jail. He has come back with a massive mandate,” he said and predicted that the same thing will happen in Karnataka too.
The JDS leader said the party workers need not be worried that he will not be accessible to them after becoming Union Minister. “You can come to me for any work and I will do it,” he promised.
Kumaraswamy was received at the airport by JDS and BJP workers and was honoured with a garland of apples and flowers at the Sadahalli toll gate.
JDS State Yuva Morcha leader Nikhil Kumaraswamy said his father has been entrusted with the responsibility of two important departments by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will make the country proud.
When Kumaraswamy reached his JP Nagar residence, he was received by his wife Anita and daughter in law Arati with lighting of lamps and distributing sweets.
