Udupi: Voluntary mega blood donation camp held at SMVITM

Udupi, Jun 19: On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, National Service Scheme (NSS), Youth Red Cross Wing and Rotaract Club, NCC Unit of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal, Udupi, Kasturba Hospital Blood Centre, Manipal jointly organised a voluntary mega blood donation camp on Wednesday, June 19 in the institute premises.
 




 
Dr Bismitha, medical officer, KMC Manipal inaugurated the camp by lighting the lamp.  In her inaugural address, she explained the importance of blood donation and also said that healthy individuals can donate blood every three months.
 
Dr Thirumaleshwara Bhat, principal, in his presidential address encouraged the students to donate blood in large numbers for a noble cause and conveyed his best wishes to the programme.  Dr Nagaraj Bhat, dean academic, Nagaraja Rao NSS-YRC-RC Unit coordinator; dean QA, HODs, departmental coordinators, faculty, staff, office-bearers and members of NSS-YRC-RC Unit were present during the inaugural function.
 
Akash, 1st year CSE invoked the blessings from the Almighty.  Anjali of 1st year ECE welcomed the gathering. Anagha Bhat from 1st year CSE compered the programme.  Dheeraj of first year ECE proposed the vote of thanks. More than 220 volunteers, including faculty, staff and students of SMVITM and public had donated blood and a total of 100 units of blood was collected at the camp.
