Mangaluru, Jun 22: To promote Hindi and instil the spirit of patriotism in the students, a national level cultural event ‘Jaago Hindustani’ by ‘Swar Ninaad’ troupe from Kolhapur, Maharashtra was held at St Agnes PU College, Mangaluru on June 19 under the aegis of MRPL, Mangaluru.

The director (Refinery) Sanjay Varma, Aniban Vishwas, deputy director (Implementation), managers and officials from various departments of MRPL along with the director of ‘Swar Ninaad’ Suresh Shukla graced the occasion. Principal Sr Norine D’Souza and vice principal Sr Janet Sequeira along with the teaching and non-teaching staff were also present for the programme. The student audience were a marvellous lot.

Sunil Sutar was the anchor for the programme. Dr B R Pal, chief manager (OL) welcomed the gathering and Dr P V Shobha, HOD, Hindi department, expressed words of gratitude. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. The cultural event mesmerised the audience. Sweets and mementoes were distributed to all the participants.
