Dr Vincent Alva, speaking at the Eid Souharda gathering organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Udupi, said, “Every festival spreads happiness in the society. Celebrating a festival only with family does not feel like a true festival. The true essence of a festival can be seen only when celebrated with others.”
Bannanje Babu Amin, renowned folk scholar and Rajyotsava awardee, speaking on the occasion emphasized the contribution of Muslims in coastal region. He urged Hindus, Muslims and Christians to live in harmony for a peaceful coexistence.
Mohammad Kunhi, secretary Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, in his presidential note, emphasized the concept of nationalism, and said, “The idea of superiority or inferiority among us should not arise, as it fosters communalism, instead of the universal belief that we are all brothers and sisters. Today we have reached this point in the world, because of the sacrifices of elders. Achieving anything requires effort and sacrifice, and without sacrifice and hard work, victory cannot be achieved.”
Nisar Ahemmad, president zonal Jamaat e Islami, gave an introductory note. Wajida Tabassum, convener of the women's division, proposed the vote of thanks. Sarparaj Manna proceeded over the programme.
