Mangaluru: Monsoon floods submerge house in Adyar Dhota for third consecutive year

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Jul 4: The monsoon has intensified rapidly in the district, causing a house located at Adyar Dhota, on the way to Bonda Factory, to be completely submerged for the past three days.

A one-story house belonging to Vikram Shetty has faced this issue for the past three years. The road leading to the Bonda Factory also becomes submerged due to the lack of a proper drainage system, causing waterlogging throughout the stretch.

In that area, there are several houses and schools, but the road leading to them is completely waterlogged due to the inadequate drainage system.

Vikram was forced to stay in a rented house in 2021 during the monsoon. There was some hope when the concerned authorities laid the foundation stone for drainage work, but unfortunately, the work has not commenced to date, resulting in the house being submerged for the third consecutive year.

Each year, the house owner and other residents have demanded a quick solution from the MLA and district administration, but for three years, they have faced the same issue.

Vikram also rents out the first floor, but the occupants preferred to stay with relatives after the waterlogging. Vikram, along with his family and small child, suffers every monsoon and has to shift to his wife's residence.

Along with Vikram's residence, Vijay D'Souza's house is also waterlogged, while Ayesha's house collapsed two years ago.

Its sad. Mr. Vikram shetty says since three years, their house is getting submerged during rainy season...Then, why didnt they follow up the process of construction work of the drainage, without leaving the back of the concerned dept/their corporator? Members of schools/houses/bonda factory should have given complaints over complaints UNITEDLY. ..over and over again, collecting the signatures of all the residents over there. Then why they issue big big notices and giving helpline nos to citizens? Our MLA's/ladies/followers only to know protest against the present government but not showing interest to listen the public.....Voting time they come...then disappear...
