Newly launched KCA Ladies’ Lounge scores a century

Media Release

Bengaluru, Jul 4: KCA (Kanara Catholic Association) Bangalore launched its brand new WhatsApp community group, the KCA Ladies’ Lounge, for their women members. The exclusive community hit a record 100 members, and counting, in less than 36 hours of the launch and the excited energy on the group is quite infectious!

The KCA Ladies’ Lounge is intended to be a space for the Women of KCA to interact & bond with each other, build community & friendships; engaging the members with women-centric & women-centered conversations, events, and activities. The group is a space to have free and well moderated conversations and discussions on topics and matters that are significant to women.

The engagement within the Ladies’ Lounge has brought together members, old and new, and across generations and industries. The well-crafted introduction prompts have highlighted the diversity of our membership – doctors, lawyers, economists, defense personnel, home makers, writers, bloggers, chefs, designers… the collective accomplishment is resplendent with the underlying spirit of Mangalorean women coming together to enrich each others’ experiences and add value to the community at large.

The KCA Ladies’ Lounge comes in the wake of the very successful KCA Social Networking Group that was launched in August 2023 as an initiative for members to interact with each other beyond socializing at KCA events. The purpose was simple – to give our members a platform to talk to each other on all topics that are of interest to members – from social and environmental justice issues to recipes, jokes and entertaining forwards to generate conversation as well as local news of relevance.

The personal relationships that members have built, over time, with the group admin and facilitator, Luvena Rangel, have resulted in a palpable community vibe that feels cohesive and united. The KCA Konkani Wednesday, KCA Thursday Teaser and KCA Foodie Fridays have been tremendously popular with the members and have also made their way to many member family groups to discuss and solve together. Knowing that the Thursday Teasers have been received very positively by many senior members living with Alzheimers’ Disease and Dementia, has also been a very humbling takeaway.

KCA Bangalore’s vision to unify the Mangalorean community and bring them closer to our culture has been the focus of the committee throughout. The success of both online groups is a confluence of the active support from president Adrian D’Souza, vice president Shanti Peres, and the entire KCA Committee. Vigilant, humorous and engaged group administration along with the interaction of extremely involved members who come forward with the keenest of spirits has been the crux.

KCA looks forward to continued community building through events, both online and offline. The upcoming KCA Latte with the Ladies, set for Sunday, 14th July 2024, promises to be an exciting morning complete with music, dance, games and a delicious lunch!
