Konkani Natak Sabha’s 60th singing competition in Mumbai concludes on high note

Mumbai, Jul 5: The Mumbai edition of the Konkani Natak Sabha’s (KNS) 60th signing competition was held on June 30 at St Thomas Church Hall Goregaon (East) The competition was conducted by KNS Mangaluru, supported by Konkan Association Charitable (KAC) Trust, Mumbai.

It was a monumental event in the history of KNS which began with the KNS anthem. Dr Rocky D’Cunha president of KNS welcomed the participants and gathering and gave his message to the competitors and wished them good luck.

The competition was inaugurated by Dr Rocky D’Cunha OFM Cap president of KNS accompanied by Leo Fernandes Jerimeri, president of KAC Trust Mumbai, Benedicta Rebello founder member of KACT Mumbai, Comedy King Dolla Mangluru, Liston D’Souza vice president of KNS, Floyd D'Mello, general secretary KNS, Cletus Lobo, assistant secretary of KNS, and Gerald Concessao, treasurer of KNS, who were present on the dais.

Vice president Liston Dsouza spoke about the Konkani Natak Sabha's madian venture ‘Christachem Janan’, a cinematic play which will be released on September 9 in Mangaluru, He requested the Konkani public of Mumbai to extend their support to the movie which will be screened in various parishes of Mumbai.

As many as 90 participants took part in 12 categories of the singing competition conducted for the age groups 5 to 10 years, 10 to 15 Years, 15 to 45 years, above 45 years and married couples.

KNS former vice president Sunil Menezes, KNS manager Boniface Pinto assisted in conducting the competition, and special support was rendered by Jenitha D’Souza and members of Konkani Association Charitable Trust Mumbai.

Renowned singers Alwyn Noronha Bajpe, Reena D’Souza from Mumbai, and Robin Sequeira Valencia officiated as the judges for the competition.

During the valedictory programme, Fr Nelson Saldanha parish priest St Thomas Church Goregaon was present as chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners.

All the participants were given participation certificates and the winners were awarded with merit certificates and trophies.

Floyd D'Mello Cascia compered the programme, Liston Dsouza announced the results and Leo Fernandes Jerimeri proposed a vote of thanks.

- Third Place: Ivanica Pinto
