Doha, Jul 6: Karnataka Sangha Qatar marked the 10th International Yoga Day with a grand celebration at the Hamilton School premises in Doha on June 22. The event commenced with an opening note by the treasurer, Pradeep, who set the tone and introduced and invited the general secretary, Kumar Swamy, to conduct the proceedings.
President Ravi Shetty welcomed the attendees, emphasizing the importance of yoga for achieving a harmonious and blissful life. He quoted Swami Vivekananda to highlight the benefits of consistent yoga practice. The inauguration was marked by the traditional lighting of the lamp, by the president, advisory committee members, elders, and presidents of other Karnataka-based associations.
Under the guidance of former MC member and yoga trainer Kishore, over 100 members including kids participated in the yoga session. Shweta Darokar and her team showcased modern yoga techniques, adding a contemporary touch to the celebration.
As a token of appreciation, president Ravi Shetty presented mementos to Kishore for his yoga training, Shweta & her team for her demonstration, and Anthony of Astrokes Sports for providing the venue. Cultural secretary Soumya K T expressed gratitude to all participants, contributors, and volunteers who ensured the event's success.
The celebration was graced by advisory committee members Arun Kumar, V S Mannangi, Deepak Shetty, Madhu HK, Dr Sanjay Kudari, and former ICC president Milan Arun. Senior members of the association and presidents and committee members of other Karnataka-based associations also attended, adding to the event's grandeur.
The event concluded with attendees enjoying a healthy and refreshing ragi drink, underscoring the focus on health and well-being.
