Mangaluru, Jul 8: Due to widespread heavy rainfall in the district, as forecasted by the Indian Meteorological Department and the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, the Disaster Management Authority has declared a holiday for all Anganwadis, government, aided, and private primary, high schools, and pre-university colleges (up to 12th grade) in Dakshina Kannada district on Tuesday, July 9.

In addition to declaring a holiday, the following emergency measures have been implemented:

Potential flood and landslide-prone areas have been identified, and necessary precautionary measures have been taken.

  • The public and tourists are advised to avoid low-lying areas with water, lakes, riverbanks, and seashores.
  • Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea for fishing.
  • Due to the heavy rainfall in the taluk, the public is warned to stay away from rivers, streams, and electric poles/wires.
  • To prevent potential damage, the public is urged to avoid dangerous situations and adhere to the advice and instructions of the district administration.
  • In case of any incidents or warnings related to natural disasters, the public should immediately inform the respective Panchayat or district local bodies.
