Udupi, Jul 11: A clash between two gangs resulted in the assault of Muhammad Parvez Ummar (25) from Sampige Nagar, Udyavara, over a ganja dispute.

On July 9, at around 9:30 PM, Parvez received a call from Faizy alias Faizal, who asked him to come to Manipal urgently. Parvez arrived at MS Mart around 10:15 PM, where Faizal, along with Dawood Ibrahim and Isaac alias Icchu, forcibly pulled Parvez into a Swift car. Faizal accused Parvez of selling marijuana and demanded a monthly protection fee to continue his activities in Manipal, threatening severe consequences if he refused.
