Kasargod, Jul 13: The Kasargod District Kannada Journalists Welfare Association and KUWJ Kasargod Unit presented the endowment awards on Saturday, July 13 at the Alliance Convention Center near HAL, Seethangoli. Walter Nandalike, the founder and managing director of Daijiworld, was honoured with the Centenary Freedom Fighter Former Minister Bhima Khandre Endowment Award.

Businessman K K Shetty and internationally renowned architect Ravindra Kumar from Bengaluru were felicitated with civic honours. Others who were conferred with the awards included Chetana Belagere, Ashok Chandragi, G Subray Bhata, Ibrahim K V R Tagore, H B Madan Gowda, Mumbai journalist Navin K Mohammad Ibrahim Par, Nandakumar Hegde, H T Anil Madikeri, Sadananda Joshi Beedar, Divakar B Shetty Kappu and B P Sheni.

“Regardless of where they are, Kannadigas remain true to their Kannada identity. There is no distinction between Kannadigas from other states, within the state, or abroad. We must uphold our Kannada heritage. If we display our commitment to language development merely for show, it will not succeed. It must come from the heart," remarked chief minister's media advisor K V Prabhakar, recommending the heartfelt efforts of Kannadigas in Kasargod.

Shivananad Tagadur, president of the Karnataka Working Journalists Association, who presided over the event, pledged to preserve the Kannada language and assured genuine efforts to meet the journalists' demand for free bus passes.
