Mangaluru: Fire accident in fish processing unit; products worth Rs 10 crore destroyed

Mangaluru, Jul 14: A fire accident occurred at Authentic Ocean Treasures, an industrial unit in Surathkal, on Sunday, July 14 afternoon. Fish products worth Rs 10 crore were destroyed in the blaze.

The incident took place while repair work was underway in the company's cold storage and cutting sections. Fortunately, no employees were present at the time, preventing any loss of life, as confirmed by a source from Authentic Ocean Treasures.

The fire reportedly started accidentally in the cold storage section during the repair activities. The flames quickly spread, causing significant damage to the fish products stored there.

Currently, fire brigade vehicles from the industrial area, including those from MRPL and GAIL India, have rushed to the site and are engaged in extinguishing the fire.

Authentic Ocean Treasures is a company that processes fish, cleans them, cuts them into portions, and packages them into 10 kg packets for export.
