Stray dog bites eight people in Udupi

Udupi, Jul 20: In a shocking incident, a stray dog bit and injured eight people in Udupi city this afternoon.

The dog, in a highly aggressive state, bit everyone it encountered on the street. Reports indicate that it even bit and consumed some flesh from people's legs. All the injured were treated as outpatients at Udupi district hospital.

Locals observed that the rabid dog was not from the area. The dog eventually collapsed from exhaustion in the grounds of North School in Udupi. Concerned citizens informed Nityananda Olakadu, director of the Udupi District Citizens' Committee.

Nityananda Olakadu promptly informed the Udupi municipal commissioner Rayappa and the members of the animal welfare association. The municipal commissioner and animal welfare association members Manjula and Prithvi arrived at the scene for inspection. A veterinarian was called, and the dog was given an injection, according to reports.
