Mangaluru, Jul 22: The audition round for the 60th edition of the Konkani Natak Sabha's (KNS) children's singing competition took place on Sunday, July 21, from 2 pm onwards at Don Bosco Hall in Mangaluru. This event is part of the annual competitions organized by KNS.
The event began with the KNS anthem, followed by a warm welcome from Floyd D'Mello, general secretary of KNS, to the guests, participants, and attendees.
The competition was inaugurated with a lamp-lighting ceremony by Raymond D’Cunha, editor in chief of Pingara.com and general secretary of Konkani Basha Mandal; Stany Bela, production director of Daijiworld 24×7; Floyd D'Mello, general secretary of KNS; Loy Rego and Gladys Pereira, singing competition convenors; and competition judges Shilpa Cutinha and Ralph Roshan Bela, accompanied by KNS president Dr Rocky D'Cunha on the dais.
Dr Rocky D'Cunha, president of KNS, delivered an encouraging message to the competitors, wishing them the best of luck. He also spoke about the Konkani Natak Sabha's upcoming venture, "KNS Productions," a YouTube channel where short plays, entertainment, and upcoming activities of KNS will be uploaded. He mentioned the cinematic play ‘Christachem Janan,’ which will be released on September 9 at Big Cinemas, Mangaluru, and requested the Konkani-speaking public to support the movie and KNS Productions YouTube channel.
A total of 129 participants from four different age categories, ranging from 5 to 15 years, showcased their singing talents in solo, duet, and group categories.
The competition received valuable support from KNS manager Boniface Pinto, Sunil Menezes, former vice-president of KNS, and assistance from KNS managing committee members and Bendur, Bejai, and Ladies unit members.
Renowned lead guitarist and composer Ralph Roshan Crasta from Bela and well-known singer and composer Shilpa Cutinha served as the esteemed judges for the competition.
Loy Rego compered the program and concluded it with a vote of thanks.
