Udupi, Jul 24: On a recent journey, the crew of train No. 12619 Matsyagandha Express demonstrated exceptional vigilance and prompt action, preventing a potentially severe incident. While approaching between the Barkur and Udupi section, the loco pilot and assistant loco pilot observed a large tree fallen across the track.

Reacting swiftly, they applied the emergency brake, successfully bringing the train to a halt after passing the locomotive and one coach, without any further complications. The obstacle was subsequently cleared by the overhead equipment (OHE) team, allowing the train to resume its journey.

In recognition of their alertness and decisive action, which averted a major mishap, CMD of Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL), Santosh Kumar Jha, announced a cash award of Rs 15,000 for each crew member.
