Kasargod, Jul 26: St Mary’s College, Bela, Kasargod celebrated its annual Convocation Ceremony on Friday, July 26 marking a momentous occasion for the graduating BCom and BBA class of 2023-24. The event, held in the Yathri Auditorium, saw a blend of academic achievements, emotional farewells, and inspiring speeches.
The ceremony commenced with the traditional procession of faculty and graduates, all clad in their academic regalia. The auditorium was abuzz with excitement as families of graduating students gathered to witness the culmination of years of hard work and dedication by the students.
The programme began with prayer song and welcome dance. Dr Rocky R Fernandes, principal of the College welcomed everyone present. Juliana Crasta, lecturer in Commerce introduced the chief guest.
The highlight of the ceremony was the conferring of degrees. All the graduates were called individually to the stage to receive their degrees. Stany Bela, production director of Daijiworld Media Pvt Ltd, Mangaluru was the chief guest of the day presented each degree with a few words of personal encouragement, adding a special touch to the proceedings. Later, he was honored for his excellence in the field of Journalism and Cinema. He addressed the students in Malayalam and English Language. He motivated them by saying that the world beyond these gates is full of possibilities, one should be brave, curious and open to experiences. Success is not a destination but a journey with enough challenges.
The toppers in semester honored with certificates by Fr Stany Periera, correspondent of St Mary’s College. In the presidential address, he praised the graduating students for their resilience and determination, especially in navigating the challenges posed by recent global events. He concluded by saying success is nothing but handwork.
Vincent D’Souza, vice principal, proposed a vote of thanks. Anitha D'Souza and Uma, lecturers compered the programme.
Parents, faculty, and graduates mingled during a reception that followed the ceremony. The event not only honored the achievements of the graduates but also served as a testament to the supportive and vibrant community at St Mary’s College, Bela.
