Mangaluru, Aug 5: Dead sheep was found dumped on the service road near the old toll gate on the Suratkal-Mukka stretch.

As per information provided by locals to the second ward corporator Shwetha Poojary, she had the dead sheep buried in a safe place with the help of MCC officials and personnel.

Police said that during the primary investigation, it has come to light that traders who sell sheep to the Mangaluru market from North Karnataka threw the dead sheep in the bushes while returning to their native place. Action is being initiated to identify the culprits. An FIR has been registered at Kavoor police station against the unknown persons for creating a public health hazard.

Previously, waste from slaughtered animals was often strewn on the roads. However, now entire dead animals are being discarded this way, posing a serious health hazard.

The public has urged the district administration and MCC to investigate the matter and impose stringent punishment on those responsible. Locals have also called for MCC to implement a digital platform to report such issues.
