Mangaluru, Aug 8: "Engaging ourselves in various social activities always complements personality development. An alumni association can serve as an excellent platform for this. Beyond the physical development activities related to the institution, alumni can maintain continuous contact with the institution by organizing social, cultural, sports, and intellectual events. Alumni play a significant role in the development of any institution; they are the true assets of the institution. In society, alumni are like ambassadors of the institution," said Dr Kishore Kumar CK, president of the physical education department at Mangalore University, speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of the alumni association activities for this academic year at Nitte Dr Shankar Adyanthaya Memorial Pre-University College, Nanthoor, Mangaluru.

Popular Tulu theater and film artiste Aravind Bolar, who attended as a guest of honor, said, "An educational institution is like a temple. Serving the alma mater as an alumnus is a virtue. The goddess of knowledge blesses us in various forms, and she has blessed me as an artist. The work of alumni is as valuable as gold," he remarked, inspiringly.

Dr Naveen Shetty K, principal, who presided over the event, stated, "The relationship with an institution does not end the moment a student graduates. It is continuous and perpetual. The alumni association provides the opportunity to be part of the institution's progress, shaping the future of many younger students."

Veena, alumni coordinator, Dr NSAM PU college, Mangaluru briefed the audience about the vision and plans of the alumni association.

All the elected committee members of the alumni association 2024-25 were delegated responsibility by the chief guest and other dignitaries.

Prasanna Kailaje, director (student welfare & alumni relations), Nitte DU informed about the Nitte alumni portal which connects all the alumni of Nitte group.

Annapurna Nayak, vice principal of the institution, programme coordinators Sangeeta, Geetha, Veena Ullal, Vaishali, Suresh, Sharath, Supriya, and others were present on the occasion.

The event commenced with a prayer by Anisha. Vijesh Nayak welcomed the gathering. Meera Crasta and Shruti introduced the guests. Vinod Kumar delivered the vote of thanks, and the program was compered by Praneetha.

All the staff members and over 200 alumni were present on the occasion.
