Mangaluru: YIASCM hosts vibrant freshers' day event 'Yen Fresco'

Mangaluru, Aug 30: The Department of Commerce at Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce, and Management (YIASCM) successfully organized a Freshers' Day event, "Yen Fresco - Lights, Camera, Action," on August 29. The event, themed around a cine gala, was a significant milestone in welcoming new students into the academic community.

The event began with a formal inaugural program, featuring several esteemed dignitaries. Arun A Bhagawath, principal and dean of the Faculty of Science, served as the chief guest and delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the importance of balancing academics with extracurricular activities. Shareena P, vice principal and dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management, along with Jeevan Raj and Narayan Sukumar, vice principals and heads of departments, and faculty members from various departments, also attended the event.


Mahammad Shahid, Head of the Department of Commerce, highlighted the department's commitment to holistic education, underscoring how Freshers' Day provides a platform for students to showcase their talents and develop interpersonal skills essential for their academic and professional growth. The inaugural session was hosted by Anusha Shetty, a lecturer in the Department of Commerce.

Following the formal inauguration, the event transitioned into a vibrant cultural program, allowing freshers to exhibit their creativity and talents through various performances that reflected the diverse cultural heritage of the student body. The cultural program not only provided entertainment but also fostered creativity, collaboration, and a spirit of camaraderie among students.

The event also offered freshers the opportunity to engage with faculty and senior students in an informal setting, helping them build networks that will support their academic journey at YIASCM. The enthusiastic participation of students in both the formal and informal segments of the event highlighted the department's success in creating an inclusive and supportive academic environment.

The event was organized by senior students, coordinated by Limra Khan from III BCOM IMA and Dawood Hakeem from III BCOM FTA, who took the initiative to warmly welcome the new batch, ensuring they felt integrated into the academic and social fabric of the institution. Their efforts ensured that the freshers felt welcomed and supported as they began their academic journey at YIASCM.
