Mangaluru, Sep 11: International Literacy Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Ladyhill English Higher Primary School. The event, conducted by the students of class 1, aimed to emphasize the importance of literacy in lives and recognize the efforts of educators and students in promoting education.

The day began with the lighting of the Vidhya Jyothi, symbolizing the light of knowledge that dispels the darkness of ignorance. This significant ceremony was performed by the chief guest, CA Prithvi Shetty, along with principal, Sr Jenifer Moras AC, vice principal, Sr Ivy Moras AC and two students. Their participation underscored the importance of the event and set a reverent tone for the proceedings.

Following this, a soulful prayer service was conducted, filling the atmosphere with hope and positivity.

Our esteemed chief guest, CA Prithvi Shetty, was then introduced. A distinguished professional and an alumna of the school, she has made significant contributions to the fields of accountancy and education. Her presence served as a profound source of inspiration for everyone. A floral welcome was extended to the chief guest and other dignitaries adding a touch of elegance to the occasion.

The event continued with a vibrant welcome dance performed by the talented students. Their graceful movements and colourful costumes added a festive touch to the celebration.

A segment was dedicated to explaining the significance of the day. It was highlighted that literacy encompasses more than just reading and writing; it is a fundamental human right and a cornerstone of social and economic development.

A special dance performance illustrated the vital role of education in lives, creatively depicting how education empowers individuals, transforms communities, and drives progress.

The action dance titled 'I Love Reading' showcased the advantages of reading. Through energetic and engaging choreography, the students conveyed how reading enhances knowledge, stimulates imagination, and improves language skills.

The chief guest, CA Prithvi Shetty, then delivered an inspiring message about education and literacy. She emphasized the invaluable opportunity the students have to learn under the guidance of dedicated teachers. Sharing her own journey, she illustrated how the education and support she received in her school days shaped her successful career. She encouraged the students to make the most of their education, envisioning them as future leaders and achievers.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks. Gratitude was extended to the chief guest, dignitaries, all participants, and attendees for their contributions to the celebration.
