Udupi, Sep 11: Fiona Jeevitha Mascarenhas, a class 6 student who once dreamt of a happy and fruitful life despite her challenges, is now enduring immense pain due to a sudden and drastic change in her health.

Eight months ago, Fiona was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes mellitus and is currently receiving treatment at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal. Her father, Francis Mascarenhas, an auto-rickshaw driver, is the sole breadwinner for the family. Her mother, Jyothi Mascarenhas, is suffering from leg pain and is unable to work. Fiona also has a younger sister studying in class 3. The family, already struggling to make ends meet, is now facing severe financial difficulties due to Fiona's medical condition.

Fiona requires insulin injections four times a day, and this medication is prescribed for life. The family needs to spend approximately Rs 1,00,000 annually on her treatment. Unable to bear the expenses, the family is seeking financial assistance from kind-hearted donors to help Fiona lead a better and more normal life.
