Mangaluru: Carmel School, CBSE, Kotekar holds awareness programme 'Swachchata Pakwada’

Mangaluru, Sep 16: In honour of ‘Swachchata Pakwada’ a programme introduced by the CBSE Board, Carmel English Medium School, CBSE, Kotekar organised an hour of awareness session on the "Harmful Effects of Plastics, Consumption of Tobacco and Health and Hygiene" to all the building workers.

The programme began with a heartfelt prayer song, creating a reflective atmosphere. Prabha welcomed the principal, vice-principal, and the building workers, introducing the significance of the event.

Prabha and Martha delivered talks on various aspects of cleanliness and hygiene, further enlightening the audience on the significance of a clean environment. The session emphasised “Swacchatha Pakwada”, a 15-day cleanliness initiative aimed at promoting hygiene and environmental responsibility.

The workers were informed about the importance of cleanliness, the dangers of plastic and consumption of tobacco to health and the environment. Videos were displayed to reinforce these critical messages.

Sr Pramila AC, the principal, in her address, stressed the need for a clean body and surroundings. She invited every worker to take individual responsibility to keep one’s environment clean and tidy. Every family of the building worker was given an eco-friendly bags for their daily purchase.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Martha, and refreshments were served to all the participants, making it a meaningful and an impactful session for everyone involved.

The school held cleanliness drive as part of Swacchata Pakwada in which students voluntarily took part to clean the school surrounding. They resolved to make a ‘Plastic free Campus’.

A good number of students went round the neighbourhood and cleaned the public roads near the school and collected plastics, segregated them as bio-degradable and non-biodegradable items. Thus, created an awareness among the public on the urgency of preserving this environment for our survival and for the future generation.

Every day a theme was allotted to each class on various aspects of nature. Students presented the theme impactfully at the school assembly.
