Moodbidri, Oct 7: Exploring India's Geography and Architecture: A Hands-On Learning Experience at Carmel school.
Students of grade II embarked on an exciting journey of discovery through two captivating activities.
Grade II A: Landforms of India
Students of grade II A delved into the fascinating world of India's diverse landforms. Through an engaging activity titled ‘Landforms of India’ the young geographers explored the country's mountains, plains, plateaus, deserts and rivers. The students gained a deeper understanding of how these landforms shape the geography and influence the climate, vegetation, and wildlife in different regions. Hands-on projects such as creating detailed models and informative charts allowed them to vividly experience the towering heights of mountains the flat expanses of plains and the sandy stretches of deserts. This immersive approach not only enriched their knowledge but also sparked a lasting interest in India's natural landscape.
Grade II B: The world of houses simultaneously, grade II B students embarked on an exploration of different types of houses. The activity involved the creation of models representing various house types such as kaccha houses, pakka houses, igloos, tent houses, caravans, stilt houses and boat houses. The students learned about the architectural styles, materials used and the adaptability of these houses to various environments and cultures. Parents played an active role in this educational experience assisting with model construction and enriching the collaborative spirit of the activity. The students enthusiastically shared their ideas and discoveries making the exploration of world architecture a memorable and interactive learning experience.
Both activities showcased the importance of experiential learning where students, teachers and parents collaborated to bring subjects to life. The hands-on approach not only deepened the students' understanding but also fostered creativity, teamwork and a passion for learning.
