Udupi: SMVITM celebrates World IEEE Day

Udupi, Oct 10: SMVITM, Bantakal celebrated World IEEE Day on Oct 7. Dr Venugopala P S, HOD, department of AI-DS, NMAMIT Nitte, was the chief guest for the occasion. He inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

During his talk on the 'Benefits of IEEE Membership', Dr Venugopala emphasized the importance of global exposure that IEEE provides to students and faculty. He discussed various networking opportunities through IEEE conferences, workshops, and technical societies that connect members with professionals and researchers worldwide.

Dr Venugopala also encouraged students to take advantage of the scholarships and grants that IEEE offers, and the free courses accessible to IEEE members. He stressed the importance of continuous learning and professional development through IEEE, urging everyone to participate actively in IEEE programme to stay updated with cutting-edge technology trends.

Dr Thirumaleshwara Bhat, principal of SMVITM expressed his sincere gratitude to the IEEE student branch team for their hard work in organizing the event in his presidential address. He mentioned the value of IEEE membership. He encouraged students to become members of IEEE to leverage the vast resources, mentorship programmes, and leadership opportunities it provides.

Dr Sadananda L, institute IEEE coordinator, associate professor, department of CSE, organized the programme. The vice principal, HODs of all the department, faculties of various departments were present during the program.

The programme commenced with the prayer by Chithkala, third year CSE department. The programme was compered and presented a brief introduction of chief guest by Neola Princia D'Silva, final year CSE student.
