Mumbai: Mulund Bunts to Celebrate 6th Anniversary on Dec 10

Mumbai, Dec 5: Mulund Bunts, a social welfare organization based in the central suburb of Mulund (West), is at the threshold of its sixth anniversary celebrations.

Mulund Bunts was founded 6 years ago in the metro under the leadership of Nagriguttu Vivek Shetty by bringing together well-known social activists including Suresh B Shetty and other like-minded people.  Its chief objective is to unite Tulu–Kannadigas settled in the metro by helping the needy and staging various cultural programmes.  It has been promoting secularism among people of diverse cultures and religions in society besides educating the new generation of Tulu–Kannadigas on the cultural splendor of Tulunadu.

Mulund Bunts has been organizing health camps regularly for the people who are burdened with a greater degree of stress, helping the poor and talented to pursue engineering courses, helping poor cancer patients with financial assistance, and many social welfare activities for the general masses.

Former Karnataka Lokayukta Santosh Hegde inaugurated Mulund Bunts on October 2, 2005, in the presence of Maharashtra minister Suresh H Shetty, Manipal University retired vice-chancellor Padmabhushan Dr B M Hegde, Bunts Sangh president Sudhakar S Hegde, and Bombay Bunts Association president Jaya K Shetty.

Mulund Bunts office-bearers are Suresh B Shetty (convener), Dr Satyaprakash Shetty (vice-president), Palimar Vasant N Shetty (secretary), K Jaya Sooda (honorary treasurer), Prabhakar N Shetty and Anant K Adyantaya (joint secretaries), Hemant V Shetty (joint treasurer), Sujata K Shetty (women’s wing president), Sarala R Shetty (joint treasurer), Sarala R Shetty (vice-president), Mamata M Shetty (secretary), Meenakshi R Shetty (treasurer), Soni R Shetty (joint secretary), and Roopa J Shetty (joint treasurer).



Founder President Nagriguttu Vivek Shetty:

Vivek was born in Nagri village near Panemangalore in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district.  He did his early studies from Deepika High School, Bantwal – Mondankap and completed his graduation from St Aloysius College. He did his B E from Karnataka Regional Engineering College, Mangalore.  He migrated to the metro and was employed at a furnaces firm. He founded Technotherma Furnaces Private Limited and became a successful entrepreneur.

It was his earnest desire to serve society and fellowmen which led to the founding of Mulund Bunts with like-minded social activists of Karnataka origin settled in the metro.

Karnataka chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda will arrive in the metro on Saturday December 10 to be the chief guest at the sixth annual day celebration of Mulund Bunts at Kalidas auditorium, Mulund, at 3.30 pm.

Nitte University vice chancellor Professor Dr M Shantaram Shetty, All Cargo Global Logistics Limited managing director Sasikiran Shetty and Karnataka Rajyotsava recipient Bunts Sangh president Aikala Harish Shetty will be the guests of honour.

A cultural extravaganza and a Tulu play will be held as part of the entertainment programme, informed convener Suresh B Shetty, vice-president Dr Satyaprakash Shetty, and secretary Vasant N Shetty.
