Faith Fusion cultural competitions bring parishioners together at St Sebastian Church, Bendur

Mangaluru, Oct 30: St Sebastian Church, Bendur, hosted the cultural competition “Faith Fusion” on October 27 evening in the Platinum Jubilee Hall, celebrating parishioners' talents and fostering community spirit through various cultural and faith-based activities. The event began with an inaugural prayer by Fr Walter D’Souza, vicar of the parish, who emphasized unity and creativity in building a vibrant faith community.

Parishioners were divided into zones—Daffodil, Dahlia, Ferns, Jasmine, Lily, Lotus, Orchids, Rose, and Zenia—each presenting diverse events, including Konkani hymn singing, Bible quotations, group singing, Baila dance, Saint Walk, Samuday Geeth, Bible dance, traditional couple competition, parable enactments, talent shows, moral storytelling, family prayer presentations, Bible stories, and Samajik Kargan (social awareness skits).

Approximately 400 parishioners participated enthusiastically, showcasing their creativity and talent. Judging the performances were Fr Maxim D’Souza, vicar of Jeppu Parish; Raina Sequeira, a noted singer from Kulshekar; and Sr Vidya, headmistress of St Raymond’s High School, Vamanjoor.

The event was efficiently organized under the leadership of Fr Lawrence Cutinha, with support from committee members. Samantha served as the master of ceremonies, ensuring a smooth flow, while Mercine Pereira welcomed the gathering, Patsy Britto introduced the judges, and Sr Cynthia delivered the vote of thanks.

“Faith Fusion” was a resounding success, providing a platform for parishioners to display their talents and fostering unity and fellowship. The event left participants and spectators with cherished memories, reinforcing bonds within the parish community.
