Bantwal, Nov 1: The need for a well-equipped sports complex is evident in the taluk to encourage athletic talent, and all representatives should make a coordinated effort towards this, stated Bantwal Municipal Council president Vasu Poojary. He presided over the Bantwal taluk-level Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations held on Friday at the taluk administration building in B C Road.

“All representatives should put politics aside and work actively, so we can bring positive news about the sports complex by the next Rajyotsava,” he said.

Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik Ulippadyguthu participated in the flag-hoisting ceremony. Acting tahsildar Aravind K M, who hoisted the flag and delivered a message, emphasized that Kannada is more than a language; it is an emotion. He remarked that opting for English medium education while discarding Kannada is not ideal, stating that Kannada should be a part of any educational medium to ensure the language is preserved.

Baby Kunder, president of the Bantwal Urban Planning Authority, remarked that parents should focus on making their children assets to society rather than leaving them wealth.

Ankita, a student of the government high school in Vamadapadavu, delivered the main speech, saying that it is impossible to preserve Kannada by speaking other languages; only by conversing in Kannada can its preservation be achieved.

The event was attended by Bantwal Taluk Guarantee Implementation Committee president Jayanti V Poojary and Bantwal taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Vishwanath Bantwal. T-shirts funded by the taluk panchayat were distributed to student athletes, with teacher Jayaram providing their details.

The programme was welcomed by Bantwal TP executive officer Sachin Kumar. Bantwal block education officer Manjunathan M G proposed the vote of thanks. Deputy tahsildar Naveenkumar Benjanapadavu managed the event. Initially, a march past by the police department and students took place, followed by cultural performances from various school students.
