Udupi, Nov 10: Officials from the Udupi District BJP Minority Front have formally requested the MP Kota Srinivas Poojary to convert the currently festive-season special train service, Train No. 01007/01008 running from Madgaon (Goa) to Velankanni (Nagapattinam), into a regular weekly service via the Karnataka Coastal route.

The delegation under the leadership of minority wing president Rudolph D'souza met Kota Srinivas Poojary and submitted their demand. In their petition, the officials highlighted that this route would provide convenient direct connectivity between the coastal regions of Goa, Karnataka, and Velankanni, which would be especially beneficial for devotees traveling to the Velankanni pilgrimage center.

Moreover, the new route would foster better cultural exchange and enhance tourism, driving economic growth across the coastal states of Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.

The Udupi District BJP Minority wing has expressed optimism that this request, if considered, will be widely appreciated by the public, and they urge the railway authorities to take positive action in this regard.
