Udupi, Nov 14: “A developed India envisions an initiative to enrich every family’s livelihood. The concept of a prosperous India rests on eliminating poverty and unemployment and ensuring modern amenities reach every citizen. To achieve this vision, we must prioritise the cooperative sector,” stated Prof Kokkarn Surendranath Shetty, retired head of the Political Science Department at MGM College, Udupi.
He shared his insights during the keynote speech at the 71st All India Cooperative Week inauguration, held under the joint auspices of the Karnataka State Cooperative Federation, Bengaluru; Udupi District Cooperative Union; and Mandarthi Cooperative Department, Udupi District.
Presiding over the event, Udupi District Cooperative union president B Jayakar Shetty Indrali emphasised the role of cooperatives in boosting rural incomes and fighting hunger and unemployment. H Dhananjaya Shetty, hereditary administrator of the Mandarthi Shri Durga Parameshwari Temple, officially inaugurated the ceremony, with K R Lavanya, assistant registrar of Cooperative Societies for Udupi District, extending best wishes.
Directors of the Mandarthi Cooperative Society graced the stage, while distinguished achievers in the cooperative sector were honoured.
H Gangadhar Shetty, president of Mandarthi Seva Cooperative Society, delivered the opening address, with Anusha Kotyan, CEO of Udupi District Cooperative Union, offering the welcome remarks. Ramakrishna Shetty, CEO of Mandarthi Seva Cooperative Society, concluded the event with a vote of thanks.
