Mangaluru, Nov 18: Manish Godlin Pinto, an aspiring artiste from Mangaluru, has been accepted for a professional diploma in intercultural theatre at the Intercultural Theatre Institute in Singapore. This renowned institution is known for nurturing talent and providing students with exposure to global theatre practices. However, the cost of travel, tuition, and related expenses is beyond Pinto's current financial capacity.

The program, which begins on January 2, 2025, is expected to significantly enhance Pinto’s skills and knowledge in the field of theatre. He is only the third individual from Karnataka to be selected for this program since its inception in 2000.

With over seven years of experience, Pinto has acted in more than 25 plays across Konkani, Kannada, Tulu, and Hindi languages. His journey began with the Konkani Theatre Repertory – Kalakul, and college theatre at St Aloysius College during his B.Voc studies. A graduate of the National School of Drama in Tripura (2024), Pinto has also conducted numerous theatre workshops in Tripura, Manipur, Kashmir, and around Mangaluru.

Pinto's financial circumstances are challenging. Following the passing of his father, his mother has been the sole provider for the family. He has three elder brothers; two are employed but contribute their earnings towards family loan repayments, while the third brother is still pursuing his education.

The total tuition fee for this three-year program is SGD 57,073 (approximately Rs 37 lac), with estimated living expenses around SGD 31,000 (approximately Rs 20 lac). In total, Pinto requires around Rs 57 lac for the course.

Pinto is seeking financial support to cover his tuition and living expenses during his time at the institute. The program represents not only an investment in his growth but also has the potential to enrich the local theatre community. Contributions of any amount will directly help cover his tuition, travel, and accommodation costs, bringing him closer to fulfilling his dream and advancing his career.
