Puttur, Nov 26: In a commendable act of service and community engagement, the NCC units of St Philomena Autonomous College and St Philomena Pre-University College organised a blood donation camp as part of their 76th NCC Day celebration. The event took place at the Rotary Campco Blood Centre in Puttur.
The blood donation drive was held under the supervision of the NCC officers of the college, Captain Johnson David Sequeira of the Army Wing and Tejasvi Bhat of the Naval Wing, who guided the cadets through the process. The medical staff at the blood centre, including Dr Ramachandra and the head nurse, Sajani Martis, ensured the success of the event with their expert handling and assistance.
The event was graced by the presence of Rtn Oscar Anand, former assistant governor of Rotary District 3181, who commended the NCC cadets for their altruistic spirit. He highlighted the importance of such initiatives, noting that the blood donation represents an exemplary act of humanity and a vital contribution to patients in need.
The principals of both educational institutions, Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro of St Philomena Autonomous College and Ashok Ryan Crasta of St Philomena Pre-University College, admired the initiative, stressing the role of the NCC in instilling values of discipline and service among the youth.
