Mangaluru, Nov 28: Members of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) staged a road block protest at Rao and Rao Circle on Thursday, November 28 demanding the resignation of police commissioner Anupam Agrawal.

The protest followed the denial of permission for a demonstration at Kulur on November 27, where the police had also filed an FIR against the protestors.

During the protest, slogans were raised against the police commissioner. The protestors attempted to block the road, prompting the police to intervene and arrest them. Traffic was promptly cleared after the protest.

If action is not taken against the police commissioner, a black flag protest will be held when the chief minister visits the district, DYFI district president B K Imtiaz said after the police arrest. DYFI has also decided to intensify its agitation for the transfer of the police commissioner, he added.

Meanwhile, assistant sub-inspector Mutthappa sustained injuries during the protest and was taken to a hospital in a police vehicle.
