Udupi: MAHE conducts 'Model Your Microbe 2024' intra-collegiate competition

Udupi, Dec 17: The division of microbiology, Department of Basic Medical Sciences, successfully hosted Model Your Microbe 2024 (MYM 2024), an intra-collegiate competition designed to inspire creativity and scientific enthusiasm among health sciences students of MAHE, Manipal. The event showcased the artistic and scientific brilliance of 15 teams, each comprising 3-5 students from various health sciences colleges under MAHE.

Participants exhibited meticulously crafted 3D models of microorganisms, highlighting their creativity and understanding of microbiological concepts. A panel of three distinguished judges evaluated the models based on scientific accuracy, innovation, and presentation.

The event was inaugurated by the chief guest, Dr Monica C Solomon, dean of MCODS, Manipal. The closing ceremony was graced by Dr Srinivas Mutalik, principal of MCOPS, Manipal, who served as the chief guest. Key organizers included Dr Ullas Kamath, head of DBMS, Dr Shobha KL, coordinator, division of microbiology, and Dr Nishanth B Bhat, organizing secretary for MYM 2024.
The winners of MYM 2024 were announced during the prize distribution ceremony. The first prize was awarded to the team from MCODS, Mangaluru. The second prize went to the team from MCODS, Manipal, while the third prize was secured by the team from KMC, Mangaluru.

The prize distribution ceremony concluded with the announcement of winners, celebrating the students' dedication, scientific ingenuity, and creative talent. MYM 2024 stood out as a vibrant platform blending science and art, fostering a spirit of innovation and collaboration among future healthcare professionals.
