Yenepoya MBA students organise community engagement programme at Maryhill Old Age Home

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jan 5: The MBA department of Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce, and Management, Kulur (Yenepoya Deemed to be University), organised a community engagement programme at Veronica Vihar, an old age home for differently-abled senior citizens in Maryhill, on January 2.

The programme was held under the guidance of Dr Namratha S, postgraduate coordinator of commerce and management, with active participation from first-year MBA students specialising in logistics and supply chain management.

The initiative aimed to extend essential support to the elderly residents while fostering social responsibility among students. During the event, students and faculty donated groceries, food, and clothes tailored to the specific needs of the residents.

Students also interacted with the elderly, listening to their life experiences and offering emotional support. The programme included cultural activities, which created a lively and cheerful atmosphere for the residents.

This engagement strengthened the bond between the students and the elderly, promoting values of compassion and empathy. It also raised awareness among students about the challenges faced by differently-abled senior citizens. The donations significantly enhanced the comfort and well-being of the residents.

The programme, led by first-year MBA students under the guidance of faculty coordinator Dr Ashwini Kundar, stood as an inspiring example of how young people can contribute positively to their community. Such initiatives reinforce the institute’s commitment to social welfare and community service.
