Mangaluru, Jan 20: In a major breakthrough, Mangaluru police have arrested three individuals in connection with the recent robbery at the Kotekar Agricultural Cooperative Society's KC Road branch. The robbery, which occurred on January 17 between 1:00 PM and 1:20 PM, saw masked assailants loot valuables, including cash and gold jewelry, worth approximately Rs 4 crores.

The suspects, identified as Murugandi Thevar, Yosuva Rajendran alias Prakash (35), and Kannan Mani (36), were apprehended after a coordinated operation by the police in PadmaNeri village near Tamil Nadu.

Murugandi Thevar, son of Shimurugam Sundram, hails from Ammankovil, PadmaNeri village in Tamil Nadu. Yosuva Rajendran is a resident of Dombivili West, Mumbai, while Kannan Mani is from Tilak Nagar, Chembur, Mumbai.

During the operation, the police recovered a Fiat car used in the crime, two pistols with three live rounds, machetes, and a portion of the stolen cash and gold, packed in two gunny bags. The exact value of the recovered items will be determined following a detailed inventory process.

The investigation revealed that the robbery was carried out by a notorious gang with members hailing from Tamil Nadu and Mumbai's Dharavi. These three individuals are believed to be the main accused in the case. Efforts are underway to apprehend the other members of the gang and recover the remaining stolen property.

The case was registered at Ullal Police Station under Crime No. 07/2025, invoking relevant sections of the IPC, Arms Act, and BNS Act.

The swift and coordinated action by Mangaluru police has been praised by the local community, bringing relief and highlighting the efficiency of law enforcement agencies in addressing such high-profile crimes.

Well done, Karnataka police! You have nearly solved a case which seemed almost impossible to crack. You have brought honour to the Siddaramiah Government and shut the mouth of R. Ashoka and his cohorts. They know only to talk and talk and more talk. The present government in our state has given the police full power to solve the case. Congratulations to your department and to your superiors.
