Kadaba, Jan 23: In a cinematic turn of events, a man drove away without paying after refuelling his vehicle at a fuel station near the Old Station area of Kadaba on Wednesday.
Around 6 am, the suspect arrived at the fuel station in a Thar Jeep bearing registration number KA 01 MX 9632. He requested a full tank of diesel for his vehicle and later handed a can, asking the staff to fill it with petrol. While the station staff stepped aside to fill the can, the man sped off with his vehicle, leaving the bill unpaid.
Based on CCTV footage, the station staff lodged a complaint with the police, providing the vehicle's registration number. Upon verification, it was discovered that the registration number was fake and originally belonged to a different vehicle in Bengaluru.
Police reports suggest that a similar incident occurred a month ago at a fuel station in Pachar, Sullia. In that case, the same registration number was linked to a different vehicle, which also fled after filling a full tank of diesel. Investigations are ongoing to trace the suspect and gather additional details.

Thu, Jan 23 2025In both cases Mahindra (XUV 500 & Thar) cars were involved with identical modus operandi. The amount involved is less than Rs. 10k each time. Not sure if the police will spend that much to trace the culprit. In some petrol pumps, they insist on removing the keys from ignition. May be it is a good idea to ask the driver to step outside while filling and payment.

Thu, Jan 23 2025Unbelievable! How low can some people stoop? Stealing fuel like that shows a complete lack of respect for hard-working owners and honest customers! This kind of behavior needs to be stopped!
