New Delhi, Jan 5 (IANS): Two-wheeler company Royal Enfield Thursday launched a new version of its hot selling cruiser bike Thunderbird, with a more powerful engine and other features.
"The first generation Thunderbird launched way back in 2002 had a 350cc engine whereas the new bike would boast of a 500cc unit," Royal Enfield CEO Venki Padmanabham told IANS at the Auto Expo here.
"The new version of the bike will sell along with the older version and would be available by March end," he added.
According to Padmanabham, depending upon the customer feedback, the new look might be carried forward to the older Thunderbird as well.
The new features include a black engine, split seats, LED tail lamps, redesigned exhaust pipe and digital trip meters.
The bike marque also previewed a wide range of Royal Enfield biking accessories like jackets, boots, gloves, helmets and jeans.
"These products have been made by the best in the world and will offer maximum bang for the buck. We want that when people buy an Enfield they should not go hunting for accessories. We will provide both under the same roof," he said.
The accessories would be available at select Royal Enfield showrooms in all major cities.
The 11th edition of the Auto Expo will conclude Jan 11. Held at the sprawling Pragati Maidan exposition grounds here, the event promises a slew of launches and first-time exhibits of vehicles in virtually every segment.
