Kuala Lumpur, Jan 31: Defending champions India crushed England by nine wickets in the ICC Women's U19 T20 World Cup semifinal at the Bayuemas Oval on Friday, setting up a title clash with South Africa.

Opting to bat first, England got off to a promising start, with Davina Perrin (45 off 40) and captain Abigale Norgrove (30 off 25) guiding them to 73/2 at the halfway mark. However, India’s bowlers staged a remarkable comeback in the latter half, restricting England to 113/8 in 20 overs. Parunika Sisodia (3/21), Aayushi Shukla (2/21), and Vaishnavi Sharma (3/23) spearheaded India’s attack, dismantling England’s middle and lower order.

Chasing 114, India dominated from the outset, with Trisha Gongadi (35 off 29) and G Kamilini (56*) ensuring a comfortable victory in just 15 overs. Sanilka Chalke provided steady support as India sealed the win with four overs to spare.

India captain Niki Prasad expressed her delight after the match, stating, “We knew England would come hard at us, but we stayed calm and focused on taking quick wickets. We are one step closer to the trophy and excited to dominate in the final.”

India will now face South Africa in the summit clash on Sunday, aiming to defend their title in style.
