Mangaluru: St Francis Xavier Church celebrates Senior Citizens' Day

Mangaluru, Feb 3: St Francis Xavier Church, Bejai, in association with the Family Commission of Bejai parish celebrated Elders' Day on Sunday, February 2 in the Church Main Hall.

Confessions were followed by the Holy Mass. Fr Thrishan D’Souza, secretary to the bishop of Mangalore Diocese celebrated the mass. Whereas, Fr J B Saldanha, the parish priest of Bejai church concelebrated. Later, a stage programme was held during which the children of Bejai parish trained by Rachel performed a welcome dance to welcome the gathering.

Fr J B Saldanha, the parish priest, Ashok Pinto, vice president of Bejai PPP, Avitha Pinto, secretary of Bejai PPP, Godwin Pinto, coordinator for the 21 commissions and Thomas Rodrigues, secretary for the parish family commission were the guests on the dias.

Ashok Pinto welcomed the gathering, Fr J B Saldanha gave his presidential message and Avitha Pinto thanked everyone.

Housie-Housie and some spot games were held. At the end, Baila was played making several elders to dance. Every participant was offered a gift as a token of gratitude. The programme ended with a sumptuous lunch. Around 410 senior citizens attended the programme.
