Kolkata, Jan 10 (IANS): In a bid to attract investments, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Monday assured industrialists her government would provide all kinds of facilities and urged them to consider Bengal as their "dreamland".

"If you are interested to invest the money, the government will give you all the support… please consider Bengal as your dreamland," Banerjee urged at "Bengal Leads 2012", a business summit organised by the state government, here.

"My mission is in a straight way. I love to play with a direct bat... If I want to do something, I will do it. And if I am ready to do the batting, I will be batting for people, I will be batting for industry and agriculture also," Banerjee said.

"There is very good potential in our state for industries to come up. We can assure all of you that if anybody is serious about investing in Bengal then he will get full cooperation from the state government. There will be no problem at all," she said.

The chief minister formally inaugurated the six-day-long summit Monday evening. General Motors Company director Christopher E. Borroni-Bird, JSW Steel chairman Sajjan Jindal, ITC Limited Chairman Y.C. Deveshwar, RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group chairman Sanjiv Goenka, Ambuja Realty Group chairman Harshvardhan Neotia were among others who were present in the summit.

Banerjee said the state government had set up an industrial infrastructure committee that would monitor appeals for setting up industries, and if there was any serious case the government will look into it.

"We already set up an industrial infrastructure committee. The committee will take a decision case to case for every appeal...If you are interested in investing the money, the government will give you all the support … please consider Bengal as your dreamland," the 57-year-old chief minister said.

Banerjee who had garnered an anti industry image due to her protests to Tata's small car plant in Singur during her days in opposition, has time and again tried to woo businesspersons to push the process of industrialization in the state and shed her anti -industry image.

Leading chambers of commerce and industrialists have repeatedly expressed resentment over the Mamata Banerjee government's land policy which decrees that the state has no role to play in land acquisition for industrial projects, and that businessmen need to buy it outright from land owners.

"I think there is a problem of land ceiling so we have prepared a land map and land bank. We have also prepared a land policy," Banerjee said.

She claimed that her government has already cleared land ceiling problems of some companies which were aiming to set up their plants in Bengal.

The industrialists, however, seemed happy as they emerged from the get-together, the third interaction between them and the chief minister since the new government came to power in May, 2011. Banerjee held formal meetings with the entrepreneurs June 18 and Oct 17.

Coming out of the summit, Deveshwar, chairman ITC, said the chief minister made a call to the industry and made promises that there would be transparency and speedy response by the government.

"...now she's inviting capital to come here and participate in the growth of West Bengal….I think that's a good thing," he added.
