Mangaluru, Feb 10: St Agnes Centre for Postgraduate Studies and Research (Autonomous) organized a workshop on the counselling process for Clinical Psychology students on February 7. The session was conducted by Jennifer Carlo, assistant professor at Yenapoya Deemed-to-be University, Mudipu, Mangaluru.
The workshop focused on essential counselling skills, including effective communication, active listening, and empathy. Carlo introduced students to different counselling models, emphasizing various theoretical approaches used in professional practice. She also addressed ethical guidelines, highlighting the importance of confidentiality, professional boundaries, and adherence to ethical standards.

A key segment of the session covered behavioural analysis, explaining how understanding behaviour patterns aids in effective counselling interventions. Students also participated in practical training, applying their theoretical knowledge to real-life scenarios.
With 23 students and two faculty members in attendance, the session proved to be an enriching learning experience, equipping students with valuable skills and deeper insights into the counselling profession.
