Konkani Prayer Group, Abu Dhabi to celebrate its silver anniversary on February 22

Abu Dhabi, Feb 10: Konkani Prayer Group popularly known as KPG will be celebrating its 25th anniversary on February 22. The celebration will include an outdoor thanksgiving Mass at 5 pm followed by a cultural program by members of KPG.

KPG was incepted on February 18, 2000, under the guidance of the then parish priest of St Joseph's Cathedral, Abu Dhabi, Fr Eugene Mattioli, OFM Cap. The group is known for its weekly prayer meetings intercessory prayer and monthly Eucharistic Adoration held in the Assisi Hall with an angelic choir and well led praise and worship. The members of KPG are actively involved in various parish activities and ministries. The group is presently lead by spiritual director, Fr Marian Miranda, OFM Cap.

The preparation for this celebration began as early as June 2024 where various committees were formed to prepare and execute different aspects of the event. The competitions such as Bible Quiz, singing fancy dress, skit on parables and elocution were conducted during the last quarter of 2024.

The members of KPG Hail from Mangaluru, Goa, Karwar, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Mysuru. A large number of members, including those who have relocated to other countries and the ones who have returned to their native places are expected to attend this grand event. A souvenir depicting the 25 years' journey of KPG is set to be released during the anniversary celebration.
