St Aloysius University holds fourth edition of TEDxStAloysius with the theme ‘A Twist of Tales’

Mangaluru, Feb 24: The fourth edition of TEDxStAloysius, themed ‘A Twist of Tales’, was organized by St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru, on February 23 at L F Rasquinha Auditorium, with K Nikhitha Pai and Neha Anna Bino compering the event.

The event featured a diverse lineup of speakers who shared insights and experiences that aligned with the theme.

There were eight speakers in the programme

Sadashiva K Shetty, co-founder and chairman of Heranba Industries Ltd, emphasized the need for an entrepreneurial mindset, resilience, hard work, continuous learning, and strategic thinking. He also highlighted the value of physical well-being, social responsibility, and philanthropy, offering motivational guidance and life lessons.

Kiran Dembla, a celebrity fitness expert, photographer, and mountaineer, emphasized the importance of starting fitness at a young age. She also highlighted the need for self-belief, consistency, and having clear goals while encouraging individuals to reward themselves for their progress.

Dr Yusuf Kumble, founder and chairman of Indiana Hospital, emphasized the importance of decision-making and demonstrated strong determination in his work. Certain experiences inspired him to revolutionize healthcare, leading him to make government schemes accessible to all patients.

Sanjay R Hegde underscored the intrinsic value of resilience and the unifying ethos that binds society while also discussing religious freedom under the constitution. He concluded by conveying that liberty resides in the hearts of men and women.

Poonam Vaidya, a senior analyst who has appeared in mini-documentaries on BBC, spoke about the importance of treating people with disabilities with respect. She challenged the myth that blind individuals are dependent and emphasized the need to promote accessibility and ensure they feel equal in society.

Pavan Joshi, Adavi Alert Foundation founder & conservationist, spoke about his 25-year journey in protecting wildlife, highlighting the struggles of frontline workers and the need for awareness and community support. Joshi emphasized the relentless commitment required to protect wildlife year-round, highlighting the challenges faced by these unsung heroes.

Wencita Dias, actress and beauty queen, spoke about overcoming societal pressures, embracing life’s unpredictability, and the importance of self-acceptance and gratitude. She encouraged stepping out of comfort zones, reminding the audience of life's brevity and its constant twists.

Dr Manu Melwin Joy, a gamification expert, discussed its impact on education, e-commerce, and social causes, sharing innovations like gamified learning and customer engagement. A cancer survivor, Dr Joy also shared his involvement in Project Meri Metro and collaborations with law universities to train thousands of teachers, reflecting his dedication to revolutionizing learning experiences.

TEDxStAloysius 2025 successfully brought together diverse perspectives, fostering meaningful discussions and inspiring the audience through powerful narratives. The event was enriched by the evocative melodies of Inception and electrifying performances by Nrithya Ensemble and Crescendo. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Vinay Mayekar, student coordinator of TEDxStAloysius 2025.
