Mangaluru, Mar 11: Mercy Care Charitable Trust (R), Mangaluru, successfully organized an informative programme for growers in Fajir, focusing on agricultural advancements and best practices. The event was presided over by Trust president C A Maxim Michael Fernandes, with Dr Rohan Colaco as the chief guest and senior assistant director of the Horticulture Department, Bantwal, Jyo Pradeep D'Souza, as the resource person.

The programme served as a platform for knowledge-sharing among experienced and aspiring farmers. Those who have made remarkable achievements in agriculture were honored for their contributions to the field.

Speaking at the event, Trust president C A Maxim Michael Fernandes emphasised the importance of experienced farmers guiding others to prevent losses and increase profits. “If those who have experience in agriculture mentor others, farmers can avoid unnecessary losses and focus on profitability,” he stated.

Chief guest Dr Rohan Colaco highlighted the deep connection between farmers and their work, stating, “When we observe the agriculture we engage in daily, it becomes a member of our family. There is no other profession that brings as much happiness, prosperity, and fulfillment as agriculture.”

Senior assistant director Jyo Pradeep D’Souza provided valuable insights into areca nut farming, discussing the challenges faced by farmers and offering practical solutions to enhance productivity.

As a token of appreciation, Mercy Care Charitable Trust honoured distinguished agricultural achievers, including Dr Rohan Colaco, Glen Will Roach, Zakaria PM Malar, Suresh Shetty Inoli, Melvin Santhosh D’Souza Konaje, and Wilson D’Souza Harekala, for their outstanding contributions to farming.

The event was well received by the attendees, who commended Mercy Care Charitable Trust for its continued efforts in supporting and educating the farming community. The programme was compered by Roshan D’Souza, with a warm welcome extended by Maxim Michael Fernandes and a vote of thanks proposed by Vincent D’Souza.
