Bengaluru, March 26: Amid growing concerns over food adulteration, officials from the food department have conducted raids on ice cream and cool drink units across the city. The raids were carried out in the wake of the summer season, when people tend to indulge in such products more frequently, increasing the risks of foodborne contamination.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) led these operations in Bengaluru and other districts, collecting samples for laboratory testing.
In recent reports, the health department had raised alarms over food safety issues, including the use of plastic for preparing idli batter in hotels and the presence of harmful green dye on peas, which had been flagged as unsafe for consumption.

Bacteria found in Paneer, shocking discovery for consumers
In another unsettling revelation, the food department has found bacteria in paneer, a popular dairy product. Despite being a staple in many households, the findings have cast doubts over the safety of paneer.
The authorities had collected samples from various locations across Bengaluru and other regions. These samples were subjected to food quality tests, which confirmed the presence of bacteria in the paneer, marking a major concern for consumers.
A report released by the food quality department showed that the paneer contained unsafe elements, raising concerns about the hygiene and safety standards followed by certain manufacturers.
Officials have warned consumers to be cautious when purchasing paneer and other dairy products, urging them to check the safety and quality of the food items before consumption.
The food department has stated that they are committed to ensuring food safety and will take stringent actions against those responsible for adulterating or contaminating food products.
