Bantwal, Apr 10: In a heart-warming and inspiring feat, a mother and daughter from Narikombu village in Bantwal taluk have successfully passed the second PUC exams together, drawing admiration from the community.
Ravikala and her daughter Trisha, residents of Manimajalu, are the duo behind this remarkable achievement. While Ravikala passed the II PUC in the arts stream as a private candidate, her daughter Trisha secured an impressive 586 marks in the commerce stream at a private college in Puttur.

Ravikala had completed her SSLC in 1998 but could not pursue further education due to financial constraints. For several years now, she has been working as an Anganwadi worker at the Taripady Anganwadi Centre in Narikombu. With Anganwadi centres set to introduce LKG and UKG classes, the department mandated that workers must have passed PUC. Motivated by this directive, Ravikala resolved to take up the challenge.
She approached the B Mooda Government College to inquire about appearing for the PUC exam as a private candidate. After a gap of 27 years since completing SSLC, she cleared the PUC on her very first attempt.
“I took this exam to progress further in life. This achievement was made possible due to the support of my husband, children, my sister-in-law, and the department. Despite work pressure, I borrowed books from well-wishers and studied, this effort has paid off,” said Ravikala.
“My mother has proved that age is no barrier to education. She is my role model, and I am proud of her,” said Trisha, expressing her admiration.
