Case filed against Mangaluru doctor for anti-national social media post; hospital suspends her

Mangaluru, Apr 29: A suo motu case has been registered against a doctor at a private hospital in Mangaluru, following an alleged anti-national social media post. The incident has sparked widespread outrage, especially from right-wing organisations.

Police commissioner Anupam Agrawal confirmed that a suo motu case has been filed under Sections 196(1)(a) and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He said a notice was served to the doctor, her mobile phone was seized, and an official case has been registered. Additionally, it has come to light that the management of the hospital, where she was employed, has suspended her from duty.

The controversy erupted after the doctor allegedly posted a message on social media which surfaced amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir, drew sharp criticism from various groups.

Based on a complaint filed the HR representative of the hospital, a FIR was registered at the Pandeshwar police station.

The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
