New Delhi, May 19: Delhi Police on Monday arrested two men, including the kingpin Rashid Choudhury, in a fake government job recruitment racket, officials said.
Choudhury, a Hyderabad native, ran a cyber scam under the name ‘National Rural Development and Recreation Mission,’ falsely claiming to be a government body under the ministry of Rural Development. The scam involved fake job ads on fraudulent websites using images of Union ministers and officials to deceive job seekers, police said.

Victims were charged registration fees between Rs 299 and Rs 399. The scam came to light after a complaint from the Ministry of Rural Development on March 22.
Police tracked the money trail through QR codes linked to bank accounts in Assam, routed via mule accounts, and traced cash withdrawals through CCTV footage in East Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar area.
A raid on May 18 led to the arrest of Ikbal Hussain, who withdrew money for the gang, and later Rashid Choudhury was caught from another flat nearby.
Choudhury, a habitual cybercriminal, operated a network of web developers, account handlers, and SIM card procurers. Police seized multiple mobile phones, SIM cards, cheque books, debit cards, fake stamps, and six fake websites.
Investigations continue with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre to identify more victims and accomplices linked to the nationwide scam.
