MP Tanavade reviews MPLADS projects, stresses timely completion

Porvorim, May 20: Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade attended a key review meeting on the implementation of the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) at the Secretariat in Porvorim.

The meeting was chaired by chief secretary Dr V Candavelou, IAS, and saw the participation of South Goa MP Capt Viriato Fernandes, North Goa collector Yashashwini B, IAS, South Goa collector Igna Cleetus, IAS, secretary Sandeep Jacques, IAS, and other senior officials.

Tanavade assessed the status of ongoing and proposed MPLADS projects across North and South Goa. Out of 17 projects recommended so far, 4 have been sanctioned and are already operational. These include the provision of two school buses, one hearse van, and construction of three classrooms in a school.

The MP urged for timely completion of approved works and emphasised the need for transparency and efficiency in execution. He also appreciated the dedication of both District Collectors, officials, and support staff, encouraging continued coordination for the effective use of MPLADS funds.

The meeting ended with a collective resolve to strengthen monitoring and improve implementation to ensure the scheme delivers tangible benefits to the public.
